The department of Computing and Informatics was established in 2018. It emanated from the then department of ICT.
The department currently houses two academic courses namely, certificate in ICT (CICT) and diploma in ICT (DICT). It also houses one semi-academic unit known as Information communication and technology or Digital Literacy which serves as an academic interface between the department and other departments. The department also offers computer packages program that offers basic computer literacy to the community and other students in general.
Computing, information and electronic communication technologies form the engine that powers the most competitive economies of the world. This important consideration drove OKAME TECHNICAL into incorporating the teaching of Information Technology (IT) into all her classes programs. Consequently, the college currently produces graduates who are sought-after and are playing leading roles in virtually all the sectors of the Kenyan economy and beyond.
